New fitters offered international training boost thanks to IBFI Travel Grant
Fitters in the early stages of their career are being given the chance to win funding to attend training courses around the world thanks to a new IBFI travel bursary.
The IBFI Travel Grant will offer IBFI-certified level one and level two fitters the opportunity to apply for up to £500 (US$657/€561*) towards travelling to bike fit education and training events anywhere in the world.
Awarded annually, the funding can be used towards paying for international travel and accommodation costs.
While the initial grant will be made to one fitter, it’s hoped the scheme will grow in future years to reflect the IBFI’s focus on developing bike fit education.
Andy Brooke, IBFI President, said the aim of the grant is to help fitters take advantage training and education opportunities they perhaps wouldn’t ordinarily get access to.
“The IBFI is committed to raising standards in bike fitting around the world, and training and education is key to fitters developing their skills and knowledge,” he said.
“We know that for some of our members, training opportunities are sparse in their home countries, and that the cost of travelling to other countries to take part in education events can make it prohibitive for many.
“We hope that with the development of the IBFI Travel Grant younger or less experienced fitters will find it easier to progress their skills and work their way up the IBFI’s certification levels.”
Applications for the grant are welcome from all IBFI-certified level one and level two fitters across the world who can show how they would benefit from international travel to attend a bike fit course or conference.
Applications must be filled in and submitted via email to by Friday 28 December. Terms and conditions are listed on the application form.
