BikeDynamics (Hinckley) - Scott Millns

Expert Overview

BikeDynamics (Hinckley) is an independent, professional, bike fitting service operated by Scott Millns in Leicestershire. Scott is Degree level educated and has trained under Mike Veal who set up BikeDynamics in 2010. Mike has conducted many thousands of fits and still actively mentors Scott in the business. Scott has also attended training courses run by IBFI Committee Member and Educator, Tony Corke and Niels Boon of Bikefiting.com.
The BikeDynamics fitting studio is located just off the M69 motorway and therefore easily accessible from all across the Midlands and beyond. There are ample free car parking spaces outside and a wealth of quiet, rural lanes to explore by bike. Less than 1km from the shop is the K41 time trial course used for the 2015 RTTC National Championship.
The studio benefits from a comfortable, air conditioned space with changing rooms and comprehensive workshop facilities. As well as Bikefitting, Scott also holds a Diploma in Professional Cycle Maintenance and is fully insured to work on your bike.
The Studio utilises a range of technology and tools to aid the fitting process and experience:
Full body, motion capture tracking of 20 body markers in 3D at 100 Hz frequency is achieved using the latest version of STT Systems 3DMA system. This enables millimetre accurate measuring and recording of the cyclist in full flow. There is also Dartfish video tracking software available too.
Cyclists can be fitted on their own bike using a turbo trainer or utilise the speed and flexibility of the Bikefitting.com fitting jig. The jig has the additional benefit of adjustable cranks enabling further analysis and data to be gathered including advanced pedalling dynamic assessments.
Holding a range of test and demo saddles from brands such as Pro, Selle SMP, Fizik, ISM and Selle Italia, saddle recommendations can be made and tested. As well as sit bone measurement, saddle pressure mapping can be undertaken. The output of this testing can be visualised using a heat map made up of over 400 pressure points on the seat supplied by the experts at Velometrik.
Following the bike fit, key dimensions, detailed diagrams, observations and conclusions are reported which include stack and reach values, aiding the purchase of new bikes and frames.
Further fitting techniques, such as foot activation sessions that develop on from the standard positional fit look at insoles, wedges and leg length shims to further improve the cycling experience and comfort.
Taking advantage of the surrounding quiet lanes, BikeDynamics also operates a real world, outdoor, aerodynamic testing service using an Aerolab probe and can advise on the fastest position and equipment with quantifiable CdA results.
