The IBFI is looking for people interested in helping to develop and secure the future of bike fitting to be part of its new team of active members. In exchange for small but regular contributions, volunteers will be listed as active members on the IBFI website, as well as receiving free IBFI certification, worth £250 (€300/$320USD) a year.
We’re currently looking to fill the following roles:
Website Translation (5+ positions, 1 year)
We want to reach as many people as possible around the world, and not everyone speaks English. We’ve made a start by translating our website into Spanish, but would love to have it available in as many languages as possible. We can provide website text in a suitable format for you to input the translation alongside. Please contact us if this is something you’d like to help with. All languages will be considered. The role could be combined with the Regional Representative position below.
Course Finder Management (1 position, ongoing)
Help keep our course finder page up-to-date by acting as the point of contact between the IBFI and bike fit educators. You’ll be asked to contact fit educators and conference providers worldwide (roughly every 2-3 months) and list any courses they may have on our website. All training will be provided.
Regional Representatives (5+ positions, ongoing)
The IBFI has members across the world and in numerous time zones, meaning it isn’ t always easy for us to communicate quickly with members and potential fitters. Having a local point of contact who speaks their language will help provide better support to our members and help raise your profile within your geographical region. You will be responsible for helping to promote the IBFI to fitters in your area and answer any questions they may have. All training and guidance will be provided.
Scientific Sub-Committee (1-2 positions, ongoing)
Join our scientific sub-committee to help shape the future of cycling research. The committee will chat via email or Skype once every 3-4 months to highlight useful research which has been published over that period and produce an article for our blog to share research to our members in a clear and accessible way. The committee will also put out a bi-annual statement on research guidelines to highlight areas currently lacking solid, scientific research to help post-graduate students and research scientists identify gaps in the existing literature. Current scientific sub-committee members include: –
Dr Barney Wainwright, UK
Dr Borut Fonda, Slovenia
Paul Visentini, Australia
Lotte Kraus, Germany
Student Members Research Group (2-3 positions, 1 year)
The IBFI wants to recognise all fitters that are continually working to improve their skills and knowledge. Some of those fitters are new to the industry and don’t currently meet the necessary criteria to be certified to level 1. We’d like to add a student membership level for those fitters who are working towards certification, sp we are looking for a small group of experienced fitters to research and suggest the best ways to do that. This will include comparisons to similar industries, seeking out ideas from other areas and consulting with new fitters to find out the best way to support their career goals.
If you’re interested in any of the positions above then please email IBFI President Andy Brooke at firstname.lastname@example.org
